Wholesale datasets
Nodal prices and volumes are extracted from real-time dispatch (RTD) SPD case files. A single file is published daily and contains the nodal price and volume data from all RTD cases for the preceding day.
.Volumes include megawatts of load by point of connection and generation by point of connection and unit. The interval date/time (provided in the file) indicates the five-minute interval within the trading period that the data pertains to. If the unit symbol ends in a zero, the 'unit' is likely representing many generating units at that point of connection. Load is given to SPD whereas generation or dispatch is determined by the model. Nodal prices and location factors are also included in each file. The location factor is a ratio of the nodal price, for all nodes within an island, to the nodal price at the reference node for that island; reference nodes are Benmore in the south and Haywards in the north.
Nodal prices and volume files from RTD schedules are provided for several years. Real-time pricing began on 1 November 2022.
