Wholesale datasets
PSS/E files (.sav) are binary files for use in the PSS/E power systems software. The PSS/E files available here have been supplied by Transpower after being exported from the DIgSILENT Powerfactory case files that Transpower maintains and uses.
After some modification (described in the notes in the readme file in the root folder of the power systems analysis folder), the PSS/E files are exported as PSS/E Raw (.raw) files. Raw files are simple text files that can be used by open source power systems software applications.
After several years of being unable to supply the PSS/E and PSS/E Raw files, Transpower resumed making them available in August of 2020 following interest by analysts in the wake of the announcement that the Tiwai aluminium smelter will close.
Datasets are collections of files that often contain large volumes of data and are available for immediate download. Dataset users are typically analysts familiar with the electricity industry and have a need to obtain a large set of data or specific data on a regular basis.
